How to cheer you on to Spring? A poem perhaps…

Early Morning

The gentle slopes of speedwell blue

curve high against the widening skies

their rise and fall as soft as breaths

wreathed in Earth’s exhaled mist

The fields of brown and green and gold

an artist’s rumpled bed of satin and silk

stitched with tangled hedgerows

decked with shimmers of webbed lace

The watered veils dance slow reels

before they flee the sun that floods

the land with lemon light and

drowns the hills in honeyed waves

Down in the wooded valleys leaves

play shadow games with bright and dark

and dragonflies glint then dip

into the luminous green
